She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. In August 2014 she completed her Masters in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from UNC-Charlotte. A few years ago she decided to return to school to further her education. Valorie has been a familiar face to GUP as one of our RN’s and as office manager since the practice opened in 2000. Julia, who doesn’t know a stranger, has quickly become the family’s self-appointed ambassador to the new neighborhood. Her husband is on faculty at Davidson College. Carrie, her husband, Hammurabi, and toddler age daughter, Julia, moved to the Lake Norman area. Carrie worked with the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and continues a special interest in the care of breastfeeding mothers and children. Her career as a board certified pediatrician then began at Barrington Pediatrics, in Barrington, Rhode Island. There she became a Fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics in 2013. Carrie moved to Providence, RI for her pediatrics residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital. She then attended medical school at the University of Rochester in New York.Īfter medical school, Dr. Carrie completed her undergraduate degree at the State University of New York at Geneseo, graduating magna cum laude in 2006. Wescott and her husband, Tim, their daughter and son live in Huntersville. We are fortunate that she is fluent in Spanish. In 2005 she became a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a board certified pediatrician. After residency, she worked for two years for a community health center in an underserved rural area of eastern North Carolina. There she also completed her pediatric residency and served as Chief Resident of Pediatrics. She then moved to Richmond and attended the Medical College of Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. In October 2008, GUP welcomed Christina A. Wescott, MD. Her special interests include integrative pediatrics. In June 2000 she opened Growing Up Pediatrics (GUP). In 1997 she relocated to the Lake Norman area and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, board certified pediatrician. She trained at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham and served as Chief Resident of Pediatrics. Wendy received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed medical school at East Carolina University School of Medicine.
